Covid is back
The Baja California Sur Health Secretariat recommends to use face masks in case of symptoms of respiratory diseases remains in force. In addition, the measure is also suggested for elderly people and people with underlying conditions.
The research program on epidemiological risks of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has registered “a wide circulation of the virus at the community level that coincides with the recent report of new subvariants of the virus,”
“The timely application of basic and respiratory hygiene measures is essential to avoid COVID-19 infections, of which 259 active cases have been confirmed during the current epidemiological week in Baja California Sur, without any of them being hospitalized due to complications associated with the disease.” declared the head of the organization, Zazil Flores Aldape.
In addition, they mentioned that there was an increase in cases compared to the previous week, when there were 160, although this figure is not comparable with what happened in the pandemic, when more than 10,000 cases were reported in just 7 days within the entity. but it is still vital to contribute with the correct use of face masks when respiratory symptoms occur.
Among the symptoms to take into account when using face masks are a runny nose, headache and throat pain, fever and general discomfort such as loss of smell or taste. Likewise, it is recommended that they go to a medical unit to receive a professional evaluation and advice that allows the home protection of the sick person, in order to cut the chains of transmission.
Finally, they mentioned that more than one million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 have been applied to people ages 5 and older. In fact, workshops continue to be held to complete schemes with the biological ones delivered by the Mexican government. Flores Aldape confirmed that there is sufficient training to treat patients who have complications with the disease.
